Spring is just around the corner, in theory at least. One common tradition in our world to prepare for what is one of the more enjoyable seasons is spring cleaning! We actually like it. We take extra time and care to go around our houses and do a little extra cleaning—more than we normally would. This can be a great time to explain the importance of not only daily brushing and “normal” cleaning, but the importance of those visits to the dentist for our “extra” cleanings twice a year.
Most dentists today recommend that taking your child every six months to the dentist is very important. According to the CDC, 42% of children ages 2 to 11 have had cavities in their baby teeth. Regular visits to the dentist increase children’s comfort level with their dentist, and will begin to teach them how to properly care for their teeth themselves. Their dentist will also be able to properly monitor their dental development and will be able to identify and treat any problems quickly. Learning about brushing and flossing from the dentist will reinforce whatever you teach them at home, and give them the tools they need to take care of their teeth and mouth throughout their whole life.
So if your child has never been to the dentist and is at least one, or if it’s been a while since they’ve been, now is a great time to get them on track to a healthy lifestyle! Schedule their spring cleaning appointment today!
