Westerville Pediatric Dental and our whole team would like to wish all dads and father figures out there the happiest of Father’s Day celebrations this month. In our experience, dads everywhere like to both do things and solve problems. In this spirit, we tailored a short list of our favorite tips for dental care to be extra father-friendly. Dads can play a large role in the oral health of the whole family! To wit:
Be The Example of Dental Care in your Household
Kids watch everything you do. By displaying a great example of oral hygiene–and hygiene on a good schedule– everyone else in your household will follow suit. In the early childhood years, you can participate in oral hygiene with your kids, but as they grow into teens, continually seeing you participate in your own health will reinforce your adult children to do that same. To that end…
Be Proactive in Your Own Health
This tip goes along with the first one only with the goal of protecting your own health. Did you know that your oral health offers clues about your overall health–or that problems in your mouth can affect the rest of your body? Did you also know that men in general tend to do less for their teeth than women? Protect yourself by learning more about the connection between your oral health and overall health.
Go To Your Child’s Dental Appointment
We are always delighted to welcome fathers who bring their children to their dental appointments. Children value the support and input you can bring to oral health habits.
Being a pediatric practice, we are incredibly grateful for all dads everywhere: yours, ours, the ones we know, and the ones we don’t. Again, we have nothing but thanks from the bottoms of our hearts to dads everywhere for all you do!
From the whole team at Westerville Pediatric Dental, a very sincere happy Father’s Day!
